Every Class Act Studio workshop are for 6 weeks with the exception of our 5 week tiny tot program. Our classes are offered in three experience levels: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced. Some clarification on our levels of placement are as follows:
If you are totally new to the acting experience in general and are looking to try something different, you are best suited in our beginner class.
Our intermediate students probably have some experience being in front of an audience (including school plays) or simply are quite comfortable meeting and performing in front of new people.
Our advanced students are either Class Act alumni or the professional working actors.
Although we reserve the right to substitute coaches if the need arises, all instructors are listed under each workshop with their bios on our "about us" page.
We look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your goals.
Work with one of New York City's film agents - ask us how you can strut your stuff to one of the finest in the biz.
A non-competitive introduction to the world of acting. These workshops are designed specifically for the non-reader with an emphasis on "role playing", creative drama and improvisation. See how thrilled your child becomes when they see themselves on TV for the first time! Lots of fun with imaginary characters created with the help of our "prop closet"!
What to bring: We encourage parents to bring a snack for their child, therefore we would appreciate knowing if your child has a food allergy. Thank You.
This class never exceeds 6 children for utmost individual attention. Space is extremely limited.
Instructor: Miss Lynne
Start date : Please note this class is fully booked until the fall. Please register soon for October's session.
Sunday, October 8th from 1:30-3:30pm (5 week workshop - 2 hrs/week)
This is an on-camera, 6 week workshop designed to help the child be comfortable in an audition, to follow directions and have fun while working with props and other actors. (the bloopers are especially entertaining).
Our weekend and after school programs also offer your child an opportunity to direct, produce and of course "star" in their own short films and TV shows. Become an entertainment correspondent, news anchor or even a weather reporter. The possibilities are endless at Class Act Studios. Instructors: Vin

You will learn how to market yourself professionally. Discussions will include how to get an agent, how to write a resume and the all important question...how to get work. A very informative and necessary 6 week workshop which will prepare you to embark on this exciting career.
Audition technique will be introduced and emphasis will be placed on how an actor is both an artist & a showman; a creative spirit and a consummate professional. Learn how to show the casting directors the respect and professionalism needed to go in and give a winning audition.
To enhance your overall introduction to acting, we have designed the Monday course to be taken with our Saturday Film/Improv & Sketch comedy class that proceeds it. You do however have the option to register for each class individually. Instructors:Vin/Lynne

Not sure which class is right for you? Try these collaborate classes that meet once a month for 4 weeks. Every month is a different genre, but with a similar goal; to help bring out the best in you as an actor. Learn how to feel comfortable and relaxed with actors portraying your new "sibling" or "grandparent" in film roles and enjoy watching yourself perform on video playbacks. Ask about our special "senior" class for the young at heart.
New scripts are sent to our studio monthly. Be the first to see the actual scenes played by your favorite movie star - Emulating them is fun, but putting your own twist & spin on the role is even more exciting. Learn how to challenge yourself with different characters as we "role play" in this scene class together. These workshops are best suited for the advanced student looking to explore and further their knowledge in the industry.
Each week you will enjoy learning something new...Experience film and TV commercials one week, improv and comedy another followed by method acting & technique.
(please call the studio before registering for this class, as placement is limited & interviews are required)

Sketch comedy is introduced and hit comedy shows are used as a template for all classes. Students work with scripts from actual episodes of their favorite television sitcoms. Emphasis is placed on characterization, blocking, playing scenes within a scene and timely preparation.
Before beginning your creative work however, it is important for us to warm up our students with weekly exercises that will increase & focus their energy. Once they are all loosened up and ready to dive into their chosen characters, the class becomes a fantasy world of who you want to be, who you know you are and who you never imagined could be possible. (with a little help of course from our prop closet).
These 6 week workshops promote creativity and spontaneity. Excellent for the teen or adult who needs help with expressing or exploring their imagination. "Logic will get you from A-Z; imagination will get you everywhere"!
Monday, June 5th- 5:30-7:30pm (6 week workshop - 2 hrs/week)
Saturday, May 20th from 1:30-5:30pm (6 week workshop - 4 hrs/week)

This is a two day course, however if you prefer to do a one day lesson, please call the studio for special discounted pricing arrangements.
Casting agents are now seeking self-tapes for film or television auditions. If your manager or agent has asked you to submit a self tape for an audition, we will help. It is best if possible when you come for your appointment that you or your child is completely 'off book' (lines are already memorized) for easy instruction with voice inflection etc.
We will focus on teaching you or your child how to deliver the lines with ease and believability. We prefer that you book a two day minumum for your project to include instruction and taping. After we edit your tape, we will email it to you so you can proudly showcase the final project to any talent agent or casting director.
Please call to reserve studio space for this workshop.
For the more experienced teen or adult actor, or for the professional child. You will be presented with more challenging scenes as you sharpen your skills in this intermediate/advanced master class. You will learn to "think out of the box" as we will focus on character development and technique. For those students who would like to work on a monologue, we have many to choose from including classics & contemporary pieces and of course Shakespeare is introduced at all levels. We shall introduce you to the world of 'method' acting and explore your inner being through mind/body connections. Getting into character is easy, the heavy part is learning how to "stay" in the character!
This seminar is an intensive one day class per month for 3 months as we alternate instructors for 'diversity and freshness'.
The behind the scenes tips from the casting directors "picks" to producers creative and technical "know-hows" will all be discussed from legendary acting coach Jan Tarrant. Jan has coached many celebrity actors and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and poignant insights with you. The intense bonding experience that you will share with the other students is sure to be inspiring.
